The bulldogs had many great back pockets and Gordon Casey
may have been the best that I have seen. |

He had marvellous ball sense and marked everything that
came his way. Great judgement. He took on the resting rover in the forward
pocket to keep in goal-less. |

He teamed very well with full-back David Darcy,
they were a formidable combination. He was originally a full-forward in his
younger days. Also teamed well with Gary Merrington. |

He played cricket in the Footscray District League
and I remember playing against him. |

He went to live in Mildura as a school teacher and was a
junior coach. Coached Jason Akarmanis. Akermanis credits "Mr C", as he calls
him, as the junior coach who most influenced him. Mr C insisted Aker use
both sides of his body right from the start. Aker remains in contact with
him and visits from time to time. |
