Made the senior list in 1971. Unsure about his reserves games. He was listed in the senior team that played East Fremantle on March 13 1971. Coach of East Freo was Alan Joyce (who later became coach of the Bulldogs).

Dogs won by 3 points we had a successful pre season also defeated Glenelg, Central Districts , Moe and Puckapanyl !!

Dennis later became a very famous television football and sports commentator. He was once regarded as the most influential man in football.

Here is what 6PR, a radio station in Perth had to say about him:

"Born in 1949 in Geraldton, Western Australia, Dennis moved to Perth with his parents at the age of five.

In 1968, while starring for West Perth in league football, Dennis was offered a job as a disc jockey at radio station 6KY.

Dennis became so interested in radio that footy "took a back seat" to his on-air commitments. He ended up playing only forty games for West Perth before hanging up his boots.

He moved to Melbourne in 1970 to work at 3DB and play football for Footscray. His VFL career was short lived however, due to injury and he returned to 6KY eight months later."

Played with Perth suburbs Wanneroo in 1973; captain-coached Maddington to four consecutive grand finals and a hat trick of premiership 1974, 1975 and 1976; coached Osborne Park in 1978 and then coached Kelmscott to a premiership in 1979.

He joined 6PR and started to specialize in sport - heading up the station's football coverage.

Dennis joined the ABC in 1973 where his experience included commentating Test cricket alongside the great Alan McGilvray. His involvement with football continued too, coaching West Perth from 1982-84.

In 1986, Dennis joined the Seven Network and commentates AFL matches around the country as well as presenting sport on Channel Seven's news each night. He has covered two Commonwealth Games and played a major role in Channel Seven's coverage of the Barcelona and Atlanta Olympics."

Dennis had a good turn of phrase, some of his brilliant work:

(Tony Liberatore had just gone into a pack and emerges with blood gushing from one eye)

"Libba went into the pack optimistically and came out misty optically."

A famous saying:

"He gets up like a cork bobbing in the ocean"

Commetti: Before this game, I would have bet the mortgage on the Western Bulldogs, but I guess this shows that I may join the ranks of the homeless...

That kick by Grant was centimetre perfect.
