He grew up barracking for the Mighty Bulldogs and would
go to the Western Oval to see them play and would rush to the dressing rooms
at half time. |

Despite great form in the reserves he found it hard to
break into the seniors because the back-pocket spot was being held by Terry
Wheeler. In 1979 Don McKenzie gave him a chance and away he went. |

1980 wasn't a good year as a heel injury kept him out for
all but 4 games. |

A very reliable back pocket specialist and one of the
best taggers of all time. |

He was one of the few players who could curtail
Hawthorn's Leigh Matthews and Richmond's Kevin Bartlett. In one match when
he beat Matthews he was awarded 'Footballer of the round". |

He was captain for 12 rounds when Kelvin Templeton was
out injured. |

In 1985 he did his cruciate ligament. After 3 knee
reconstructions he finally gave it away. |
