Ken was cleared to the Bulldogs after it was discovered that Ian Robertson,
who was already signed up and playing for Carlton was tied to the Bulldogs.
Carlton released him because of their abundance of good ruckmen at that
stage. |

I remember one game at Kardinia Park Geelong where
Ken had to mind Geelong's full-forward and League leading goal-kicker Doug
Wade. It was only two meters out from goal, Ken was harassing Wade off the
ball. Big niggles. Just then the ball came down to the goal square and Wade
was preoccupied with Ken's harassment and didn't notice the ball. He gave
Ken a slap on the face. I could hear it from the back pocket boundary line.
Well yelled out "Report him, report him ..", non-stop until the umpire
pulled out his pencil and wrote it in the book. Wade was suspended for a
week. |

In 1972 he played few games due to a wrenched knee
and retired at the end of the year. |
