Tinsley was promoted from the rookie list but was never really given a chance. Played mainly as a defender but at 190cm he was not quite tall or strong enough for a key position and really did not appeal as a flanker. Very strong mark for size (but not the U18 talk, like Jay Solomon was supposed to have had) against seasoned players. He moved interstate after he left the Doggies.

Tinsley was a Favourite at Optus Oval for those who turned up early to watch him play. Played as a Small full-back but still managed to kill the giants they threw at him. Disposal was great if not super and always delivered out of defence in an attacking fashion.

A proper full-back who was listed in emergencies quite a few times after starting as a supplementary listed player. Absolutely killed North Melbourne champion forward Longmire one day (but was about 6 months before he quit - still Longmire did still get senior games under belt with credit). Deserved more senior games, but we put in the Jimmy Plunkett's etc before him when we really did need another defender. He was always someone who was going to make it, and had a lot of support from those behind the goals.

We NEVER got rid of him. He went into draft against our wishes, we wanted him to stay, big argument, so we never picked him up again.Like some players he needed a senior game and we couldn't deliver it to him so he went into draft again. Opposition would recognise what he was capable of doing but never kept up with him except when their reserves were playing against WB reserves. Hence he was someone that no other club had ever seen before we picked him, and hence after he left no-one picked him up here.

West Australians were interested (both) but wanted him to prove himself in the WAFL. Did so (had stellar year), but still wasn't picked up. In 2000 Tinsley played for the South Fremantle Bulldogs in the WAFL, had some injury problems in 2003 but also played some brilliant games in defence.
